We could not be any happier with our selection of Oak Brothers for our project.

As a part of a home remodeling project, we have two interesting features that we wanted preserved. We engaged Oak Brothers to help us. First, we have an oak double door for a front door with plain sidelight windows. The door had been painted over and the hardware was not completely functional. Jeff and his team completely removed the door, took it their shop and went to work. After stripping several layers of paint and varnish, the exterior of the door was painted with an oil based paint that has a wonderful patina when viewed from the street. The interior sides were beautifully repaired to near original condition. The interior panels were stained and finished and add a terrific warmth to the room. The hardware was completely restored to fully working condition. Jeff and his team installed a new threshold and insulation that makes the doors much more efficient and aesthetically pleasing. Jeff also suggested frosted sidelight windows which complement the refurbishment nicely and provide privacy.

Second, our house has several wooden “porthole” windows that had been painted over many times and were not functional. In addition, over the 50 plus years, the window glass had become scratched and dirtied. The Oak Brothers team carefully removed each one and took them back to their workshop. The windows were completely stripped and refinished, the glass replaced, and then painted with an oil based paint that has a superior finish. Moreover, the windows are completely functional now and are of great architectural interest from interior and exterior perspectives.

The team was very professional during the process, carefully removing the doors and windows and tightly covered the openings during the restoration. The reinstallation was equally professional. During the process, several issues came up and Jeff immediately brought them to our attention. We discussed them, and Jeff offered very reasonable solutions. The time to complete the project may seem long relative to other projects one may take on. However, after seeing the results one will understand the effort required for the quality workmanship, and appreciate the investment.
