Description Of Work

Jeff has done 4 projects for us, most recently refinishing and restoring our outer front door. We live in an old Victorian, so we wanted the door to be restored in keeping with the way it was originally. Not only did the door need refinishing, but the door has a large piece of plate glass that needed to be replaced.

We highly recommend Jeff and Oak Brothers Trim. We’ve hired him to repair and repaint a damaged plaster ceiling, paint three rooms, restore several windows and now he refinished our front door. The job went well. He had to do a lot of work and we are very happy with how the door looks. The door originally had a large plate of beveled glass that was cracked and needed replacing. Jeff found replacement glass that looks almost exactly like the original. The difference is that the new glass is tempered, which is weighs less and is much safer if it ever breaks. We would have kept the original if it wasn’t cracked, but you have to look very closely and know what you are looking for to tell it’s not original. Jeff also rebuilt the molding to hold the glass tightly. We had tried a number of make-shift fixes before this, but we finally decided to find a more lasting solution.   Jeff is a skilled craftsman. He also does a great job in creating a look and feel to the work that fits the place where it’s located. He did more than restore an old door. He presented several options and helped us choose the best way to create a door that makes a great impression for the whole house.   We plan to work with Jeff on our future restoration work. The cost was very reasonable given the quality we wanted to achieve. We didn’t want the cheapest refinishing because it’s much more expensive to go back later and re-do it right. We’ve done that with other contractors and it’s just not worth it. We are very happy to have found him.
